How does
RPM Logo
work for the Webmaster? ...the Contributor?

For the Webmaster, RPM provides great relief from daily maintenance and revisions.

RPM-enhanced Web pages can be set up in three easy steps (see below). These pages are configured by the Webmaster with assignable access zones, called ports, where revisions can be made.

A page can include multiple ports, each independently managed. Or, contributors desiring total creative freedom may request that their RPM port encompass the entire page.

Only authorized RPM contributors are able to update information in their ports. Contributors do not have access to any other portions of the web page nor to the web server. No knowledge of HTML is required.

RPM runs with existing Internet server software and can be easily incorporated into existing pages, thus preserving your current investment.

RPM can trigger server macros, which can launch inquiries against live mainframe data, for example. The results of the inquiry can then be combined with dynamic text and graphics and published to a web page.

For Web site managers who need a precise picture of site content activity and vitality, RPM’s Information Management System tells which pages are being refreshed, by whom, and how often. Each port can also be assigned an update schedule and reminders are automatically sent to alert contributors of upcoming due dates. A discrepancy log records late or missed updates.

Step 1: Determine which web pages in your site need to be managed by others. This determines how many RPM zones (ports) you need to order. Then determine which area of the web page your contributor needs to have access to. In the illustration below, only the area with the white background can be edited. The background images, navigation links, footer info, etc., are not accessable to the contributor.
