| Reedy Creek provides a wide range of Internet World-Wide
Web services, including the highest possible level of web presence
called the exclusive domain. An exclusive domain is analogous
to owning your own office building, rather than being a tenant.
The location of your domain is important. Conventional wisdom
would suggest that your company bring in a high-speed access
line, typically a T1, and connect it to a powerful UNIX-based
host computer called a server. This wisdom is based on the dated
notion that for some reason your equipment needs to be situated
at your geographical location. With this comes the added responsibility
of 24 hour system maintenance, skilled manpower, physical security,
plus a large capital outlay.
But why build a rail spur to your building when you can locate
your web presence right along the main line? The Internet recognizes
no geographical distinction but rather, is oriented to the speed
of your electronic node, or access location. Reedy Creek
locates your domain at one of the fastest possible Internet access
points available, a fiber-based T3 node. The geographical location of this node
is irrelevant because we have complete local remote control of
the equipment. The 24 hour hardware support, security, etc., is
accomplished by this highly specialized service provider with
whom we've contracted for services, much like you contract with
your long distance phone company.
The resultant performance is unmatched. The economies are very
advantageous. Take for example:
Speed: Most providers use a T1 (or slower) connection at
1.5Mbps. Our ethernet plugs directly into a backbone T3 (45Mbps).
This is at least 7 times faster.
Performance: We carefully develop and test your web site
off line before uploading it to a server.
Performance: Servers are tuned to handle over 1 million
hits per day.
Capacity: We are not limited to just one server. We can
provide and completely manage multiple servers, simultaneously.
Backup connections: We stay up. All Internet connections
have periodic downtime for maintenance as well as occasional long-term
downtime due to natural disasters and fiber cuts. Most service
providers cannot make your web site available during these times.
Within seconds, our servers automatically switch to a completely
independent secondary provider. We utilize non-telco optical fiber
for our primary connection and telco provided T1 (copper) for
our backup.
Equipment: Includes Sun Sparc, IBM RS-6000 and Pentium-based
UNIX servers (the same operating system and similar hardware to
that used by Compaq and Microsoft for their Internet servers).
Reliability: Featuring mirrored, hot swap backup computer
systems.
Reliability: Up time is better than 99.9%. This is 7-10
times better than the median WWW service provider. Others claim
to match this but don't (test results available).
Reliability: We produce frequent backups with off site
storage, both locally as well as at the Internet node location.
Reliability: Servers are powered by a 50,000 VA UPS and
a 72,000 VA power conditioner. These systems typically run at
less than 5% of capacity.
Reliability: Servers are monitored 24 hours a day, 7 days
a week, 365 days a year.
Reliability: Redundant servers in case of hardware failure.
Reliability: Off site backup servers in another city (connected
at 10Mbps).
Security: Utilizing the Netscape Commerce Server(TM) to
allow the secure exchange of encrypted data.
Security: We don't archive credit card information anywhere.
Security: Primary servers are housed in a real computer
room in a fire resistant building, with Halon 1301 fire systems,
raised floors, access card controlled doors, and independent air
conditioning (Liebert System 3).
Security: Servers are firewall protected to deter electronic
break-ins.
Features: We provide extensive traffic and usage reports
tailored to your needs.
Features: We provide highly specialized UNIX programming
support for any custom requirement.
Features: We provide complete multimedia services; digital
audio and video production geared especially to your Internet
marketing requirements.
Cost: The Reedy Creek plan is considerably less expensive
yet far more powerful than an in-house solution.
